A piper's hat, Belgie

a piper's hat- mesen, originally uploaded by - di.

So I discovered the Tullintrain Pipe Band playing out back of the reception at the Irish Peace Village in Mesen and had to smile when I spotted the 'hat rack' practice field central.

I wonder how it got up there.
When I was on the train to Ghent today, I saw this lovely old hunchbacked farmer mowing his field on what looked to me very archaic way. If only I had my camera with me and the train not speeding at who-knows-how-many-miles-an-hour.
And yes, you are very modest :P too modest even ;)

Well, there was Belgian beer involved ... I do believe the wearer, had he been Belgian, might have said 'Ik heb haarpijn.'

Loved the sound of the farmer, it would be a great photographic expedition to go out and find him, all the more exciting because I've yet to get out on the 'wrong-side-of-the-road' Belgian roads ;)

Well Belgium has many nice patches of nature left, just patches though, nothing more. But still, they are precious little artefacts of a time when life was a little bit simpler, and probably much much much worse. You really have to come check out my part of the smelly river and see that Gert has some political abilities (namely the lieing about ;p). I'm thinking somewhere along the way of August here, but no conclusion yet, will mail ya if I have one. :P

August sounds good and Gert did laugh when I read your piece about his political abilities.
