I can't explain this one ...

signage, downtown antwerpen, originally uploaded by - di.

I was waiting outside the tea shop while Jessie bought her speciality mix's ... a small bag of'Emperor's Choice' and another of 'Sweet Dreams' tea. I was holding my camera, just hunting a little, seeing what this photographer could see if she really really looked.

I had passed by this sign earlier, I must have rationalised 'warning' in my subconscious mind because it wasn't until I studied it again on it that I 'saw' the fly.

Thank god someone finally found a way to keep flies away.

Ohhhhhhhhhh, so they read here?

Of course, don't yours?

I don't know ... they play it pretty close to their chest back in New Zealand.

Really? I always thought that flies were a good representation of the human who lived in a country. Like pesky flies mean pesky people, friendly flies mean friendly people, etc. Seems your flies are very distant and closed, does that mean New Zealanders are as well? Who can tell but time?

I think it's more a case of New Zealanders not really bothering with a whole lot of rules for the flies ;)

Jessie was threatened with the 250euro fine the other day ... you know, the one for feeding pigeons.

Then there's the one for littering in general and the one that almost saw me in jail, the whole 'don't cross the road when the pedestrian light is red' ... jail time for not carrying any form of ID.

Thinking about it all, I guess I shouldn't be surprised about signs for flies here ...

We're good at making rules,we is. No wonder we got the European capital :)
I did not even know you couldn't feed the pidgeons, but I would never do coz they are filthy little creatures who always have a way of pooping on your just-washed car.
I'm from a part of the country where J-walking is very popular, probably because their aren't many red lights.

Oh pluuuease ... the pigeons were here first and have you ever watched the pigeons. They're the cutest things ... the rat comment just comes from uptight paperwork people who get irritated about pigeon poo.

Mmmmm there's all kinds of fines here ... fortunately I can always sound like a 'just arrived' tourist. I can't believe there are special police to watch people crossing the road ...

Maybe this warning 'flies' in the face of reason :)
