'Art' from Rome

The hot shower didn't do much more than take the worst of the stiffness out of my joints so I climbed into bed to work through my photographs.

I do believe Photoshop Elements (the free trial version) and I have become cautious friends and this was the result of playing with a photograph I took on impulse today.

I love graffiti.
It's local, it's usually colourful and it's often photogenic.

some graffiti is most artistic!

I have ambiguous feelings about graffiti Di.

Sure, for the casual onlooker it all may appear local, colourful and sometimes even photogenic.

But most graffiti is just an expensive pain, plain vandalism costing a fortune to remove by the victims, without adding any artistic value.

When I look at your shot from Rome, it resembles (apart from the language used) the slogan spray-canned walls near my place here in Antwerp,
running up a cleaning bill that exceeded 5,000 euro.

I love this and your work on the image. It looks like a piece of mixed media art.

It is, here in Antwerp we have a few spectacular pieces, Gary.

I know, Peter but I love the graffiti carved into the stone by ransacking invaders hundreds and hundreds of years ago in Haghia Sophia in Istanbul. It's wrong but it's human and having survived all that time, it's lovely to find this ordinary human thing. It seems like it reveals something of the pulse of a city ...

Thanks, Ms V. I'm quite intrigued by Photoshop Elements. It was very basic work but the right photo to do the work on I think.

'That' smile huh.

Just catching up on your Rome photos - I love the light in the first one of the bridge.

I'm feeling a case of travel envy coming on. Everywhere is such a long way from New Zealand - I try to remind myself that I am lucky to live here.

Thank you, Catherine. And I know what you mean. I have to here because my Belgian bloke has children he can't leave or take but I'm slowly coming round to it, remembering that Rome is about $2000nz at least and a 23 hour flight away.

I miss home though. New Zealand is stunning, isn't it.
