Last night I was out at a restaurant eating Croatian food, sitting at the table with a Flemish parliamentarian and alderman, listening as the guys discussed the coming election, intrigued because I had studied political anthropology and EU politics back in 2002.
I had to laugh when a Belgian man approached the table and warmly greeted me ... saying, quite proudly, 'Excuse me but she photographed me'.

And where is the picture? :)
I don't know how it is in Belgium but Michael told me it's against the law to take someone's picture without their consent here in Germany. I wonder...
Would just like to point out - you havent caught me yet!! :)
Hi Lisa, you can get a model release or you can take a chance but best you get the model release here in Europe.
Anyway 'the' photograph I took of the guy was for the exhibition on language and mostly I haven't published them here :)
Caught you ... as in skype, or as a photography subject. If it's the second, I expect your full cooperation next time I'm home :)
Hey, hasn't Scott grown up. I was stunned, last time I saw him he was 9, now he looks all grown up.
Almost 40 I guess?
Di, political adviser. It could work, it could work. How many jobs do you have now, fifty?Keep this one, this one is the coolest:P
:) I was just the tag-along, partner to the advisor. But it amused this kiwi to be greeted for something she had done.
I'm glad you were able to break away from your office at the international headquarters of Di Mackey Photography and find time for a bite to eat with Antwerp's movers and shakers. : )
She giggles as she writes, indeed I could call my desk 'the international headquarters of Di Mackey Photography' ... not being from here and all. Should I move to Brussels for more credibility though?
Wow, that's a nice thing to happen!
You should move to Tervuren, international hot spot and place of style.
It was nice Shashikiran ... just to surprise the politician a little as he's more used to everyone coming over to greet him.
Ahhh Tervuren darlink ... well yes but first I must begin with something resembling an income then we can shift and I can move amongst the jetset ... well after I improve my wardrobe and etc although I could just continue with 'quirky'.
Aw, don't you just love serendiptious moments like that! Your fame as a photographer is spreading!
It was lovely Tara ...
I had given the people I photographed a cd with their images on them. He must have liked them :)
Everytime I get another comment on this one it makes me smile all over again ... just the surprise of the people at the table with me ... the kiwi was the one being greeted.
