There we were at the park and I spotted this ...
I said 'What is it?'
Gert replied, I don't know.
'How can you not know, it's in Belgium and you're Belgian?'
He gave me that look he gives me sometimes.
I should know what it is really but it's this thing that we do.
Nice sky though ...
I left New Zealand mid-2003, bound for Istanbul and a new lif. After two years, a Belgian guy lured me into his world, deep in the heart of Europe. For a long time I was an in-process immigrant. One day we married. These days it's about photography, a little red wine and wandering ... and so the journey goes.

My favorite shot of the ones you posted today.
Could that be a sweetgum ball? We had loads of sweetgums in Virginia--they're a variety of maple tree--and they have seed pods like that which are visually intriguing but a big pain when they cover your lawn!
Maybe a chestnut pod? I have a tree with pods like this and they tell me it's a chestnut tree. Hmmm... beautiful picture, nonetheless.
I think it might be a chestnut, rd but v-grrrl, I expect a photograph of a sweetgum ball ... sounds kind of interesting.
