I left New Zealand mid-2003, bound for Istanbul and a new lif. After two years, a Belgian guy lured me into his world, deep in the heart of Europe. For a long time I was an in-process immigrant. One day we married. These days it's about photography, a little red wine and wandering ... and so the journey goes.

Making the decision to have a child - it's momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside your body. Elizabeth Stone.

I can't decide what is more beautiful -- the words or the photo...
I had a photo of another child I had taken but after discovering the quote and recognising the truth in it, I searched for the right photograph of my daughter.
This is such a beautiful poem - I have enjoyed catching up with your blogs - I think I read the others before - you are such a good writer! Were you really brought up in Mosgiel?

Thanks Neil.

The photo of your daughter is beautiful indeed, wanderingwoman and as for the words, never were truer words spoken. THanks for sharing this.
Beautiful words and a gorgeous photo.
Thanks lotus and wandering-woman. :)

By others I mean the Meandering Margeaux and didn't read your personal postings - but I've caught up now luckily cos it's certainly worth it
Thanks chiefbiscuit :)
Yes, born and raised in Mosgiel, then spent a few years in places like Cromwell, Blenheim and Te Anau ... I am totally in love with the South Island.
Lovely and so, so true.
Your daughter is beautiful.
Thanks christina ... I think she is too. And I had to post the quote once I found it ... it described the sensation so perfectly.
