About Bacon ...

Happiness is ... realising that there are 2 rashers of bacon left in the fridge and that they are all yours, to do with what you please. We rarely have bacon.

And while I can discuss, sympathise, empathise and appear to agree with all the reasons why one shouldn't eat pork, or meat for that matter ... the smell of bacon cooking is a childhood memory from those days when life was simple and good.

As I type this, those 2 rashers of bacon are tucked into 2 slices of bread, cooking with cheese in the toastie pie maker ... ahhh alles goed.

I think I know what I'm having for dinner later, thanks to you! I think I've got the same amount of bacon in my fridge...

Lol ... it's like that with bacon, isn't it? The merest suggestion.

Back in New Zealand, Burger King sold this perfect burger called a BBQ Bacon burger.

Living in Turkey, bacon just wasn't on Burger Kings menu. Moving to Europe, I discovered Belgium had locked Burger King out of the country with their own 'Quick' fastfood chain.

Germany and the Netherlands don't have BBQ Bacon burgers on their menus ... it's a cruel cruel world and those 2 little slices today, went some way to satisfying my craving.

Anyway, enjoy your bacon.

I never really liked bacon, it's too greasy and too meatlike for me. It's all about salami with me, you have so many sorts of salami. OMG I'm talking meat here. Better quit it.

Nooo Manic ...! This bacon was thin, really thin and I pre-cooked it without butter or oil or anything.

I have been horrified to discover that I like salami and chorizo ... goodness only knows what they are made of.

In Spain, ohhhhh it was so good, they really know how to cook meat. Sigh, I miss Spain.

I think there's a thin line between bacon and "heated" ham. I think that the best bacon is extra crispy stuff, but here in NZ we are stuck with the undercooked variety.
It's all a moot point anyway - I'm on a diet!

Ew Mark, I don't like extra crispy bacon. There was no doubt about this bacon ... it simply was bacon, good bacon.

Diet ... oh diet for me too. I need to go back to Spain and eat as they do for a while.
