Something to think about ...

Mark posted this ...
And I find I'm afraid to inform myself about Africa ... it was bad enough when I immersed myself in a little of the situation in the Middle East. I suspect I could drown in the sadness of these stories.

From wikipedia In 2007, Green Day contributed a cover of the song to the Instant Karma: The Amnesty International Campaign to Save Darfur, which was released on June 12, 2007, proceeds from which help support Amnesty International's campaign to focus attention on the conflict in Darfur, Sudan.

When asked why they chose the song, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong said, "We wanted to do 'Working Class Hero' because its themes of alienation, class, and social status really resonated with us. It's such a raw, aggressive song -- just that line: 'you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see' -- we felt we could really sink our teeth into it. I hope we've done him justice."[3]

Most touching video, along with a very strong statement.

Unfortunately, I'm way too much physically challenged at present to immerse myself in the suffering of others, no matter how bad it may be.

Kind of universal I guess: one's own pain tends to prevail over the agony of people we will never meet.

Love Green Day. Wish Billy Joe would give me makeup tips. : )

And on a more serious note, I have to select my causes carefully--enough to mobilize me, not paralyze me with hopelessness.

It does Peter. And we're lucky, we can choose to step away or step back.

Get better soon. I hope it is simpler than it seems at the moment.

It is like that, isn't it v-grrrl.
