When you meet a fellow colonial while hanging out in the VIP area waiting for the ceremony to begin and for the Queen to arrive.
We started off with the traditional Aussie Kiwi mocking, I confessed to having brothers married and living in his country, he talked of the rugby, I changed the subject quickly and so it went.
Last seen, he and his troops were marching off after the official party some time later.
I left New Zealand mid-2003, bound for Istanbul and a new lif. After two years, a Belgian guy lured me into his world, deep in the heart of Europe. For a long time I was an in-process immigrant. One day we married. These days it's about photography, a little red wine and wandering ... and so the journey goes.

Gotta love the friendly banter between Aussies and Kiwis. If it wasn't for the extreame number of house flies we would have invaded Australia years ago :)
Indeed ... I found Perth very tasty when I was there forever ago.
I was recently mocked by an Aussie ... I asked if that was a kiwi accent I'd just heard and he looked me straight in the eye and said, Nah I'm an Aussie. I say apple, not epple'.
Gert almost fell over laughing ...
