I left New Zealand mid-2003, bound for Istanbul and a new lif. After two years, a Belgian guy lured me into his world, deep in the heart of Europe. For a long time I was an in-process immigrant. One day we married. These days it's about photography, a little red wine and wandering ... and so the journey goes.

Istanbul as written up by Der Spiegel
"If the city speaks of defeat, destruction, deprivation, melancholy and poverty, the Bosporus sings of life, pleasure and happiness".
Orhan Pamuk, on Istanbul
Der Spiegel have an excellent article on Istanbul here.
Note: the photograph is a Reuters image that came from the 'East Meets West in Istanbul' photo gallery here

I'm reading Orhan Pamuk's "Snow" right now. I feel like I am taking yet another step into unknown worlds. I look forward to reading the link you have here.
Hi Annie Elf, I've been meaning to read 'Snow' but have been reading his 'Istanbul' forever .. dipping in and out of it whenever I needed an Istanbul fix.
I hope you enjoy him :)
