I left New Zealand mid-2003, bound for Istanbul and a new lif. After two years, a Belgian guy lured me into his world, deep in the heart of Europe. For a long time I was an in-process immigrant. One day we married. These days it's about photography, a little red wine and wandering ... and so the journey goes.

Kevin Sites
Kevin Sites is a war correspondent who is halfway through his journey dedicated to covering every armed conflict in the world within the year.
I've been blown away by some of Kevin's recent pieces. He did one a couple of weeks ago called "what they carry" about the talismans lurking in the front pockets and around the necks of young soldiers in Iraq that's still haunting me, not sure why. Simple piece, but he has a matter of fact way of bringing faraway things home to me.
He's the good friend of a friend of mine, who lives in Jordan, so apparently also a good guy!

Glad you posted this.
I remember the talisman piece Kevin did ... I like his approach.
