Genova

Camogli, Italy, originally uploaded by - di.

And so it begins, I fly out in 11 days heading for Genova ... my favourite city in the world.

This photograph was taken at Camogli, not so far from the city itself. I hope to swim there with Pippa, an old friend I used to visit the beaches of home with. I think this will surely become our northern hemisphere beach, although it will be so very strange not to have my old labrador - my constant New Zealand beach, lake and river companion, with us in this new place. I'm sure she would approve though.

The best thing about leaving is surely the tangible deadline ...

I have to have Istanbul finished.
I have to have tidied up my photography exhibition in the city and I need to have a book outline for the next in-between project.

The 'new, getting old fast' website has had its corrupted module rewritten and I am packing a whole lot of paper notes because I prefer to read paper over laptop screens. I have interviews and all kinds of other things and an 8 day period alone for loading that website and kick-starting it finally ...

All of this and I don't want to think about the fact that the real estate agent and the owners of the house decide whether we're 'it' today.

Okay, back into Istanbul.
We're expecting 30+ celsius all week, only broken by thunderstorms at the weekend ...

Tot straks.

It's Camogli, RD, it's that perfect! I couldn't believe it when I looked down and voila, there was this beach and that beautiful church.

Sigh ....

Fantastic, just a gorgeous picture... You always make me nostalgic for Genova in spite of the fact I must have spent the grand total of three days there in my entire life!

I think that's Genova though, Giovanni. It's just so quietly delicious that it gets under your skin and 3 days is enough.

I'm looking forward to seeing Milan, let's see what there is to photograph there. I shall follow the itinerary.

Great shot! I know the times I have been to Italy I never wanted to leave, but alas, had to go. Still hoping to spend a few weeks in Germany in September.

Sounds like your schedule is packed! Hope it's not too stressful.

Hi Peace, I'm in Germany late October, Berlin ... will you still be around?

What an amazing photo. The word ' Genova ' is so romantic.

Thanks Kay, she flew out from Dunedin, headed for Haiwaii, had a lovely time there. She has a conference she's speaking at in Vienna and then we will meet in Italy. I foresee lots of laughter ... and some wine.

Thanks Maggie May. Love the name, Rod Stewart was a favourite of my mum's and I can't read your message without thinking of all that. Genova is like that ... so beautiful. You point the camera and voila! :)
