I loved this series ...
I was out at Boccadasse 4 or 5 times and each time the mood and the sea offered me something different.
I left New Zealand mid-2003, bound for Istanbul and a new lif. After two years, a Belgian guy lured me into his world, deep in the heart of Europe. For a long time I was an in-process immigrant. One day we married. These days it's about photography, a little red wine and wandering ... and so the journey goes.

Boccadasse Storm, Italy
The Coast, Genova
Later, I heard that this storm was the worst in 8 years and I saw evidence of it where ever I went, from broken boats through to jetsam and flotsam littering beaches and rocky shores where ever I went.
Boccadasse Storm II, Italy
The wind was pummeling me during these shots but I couldn't walk away ...

Nervi, Genova, Italy
And then there was this view from the public walkway out at Nervi.
It was so very good to see this kind of sea again. It reminded me of the New Zealand coastline near Nelson ... enough to tear up but whether that was homesickness or the pure joy of being next to the sea, who knows.
