Thomas Merton noted in his diary, “Finally I am coming to the conclusion that my highest ambition is to be what I already am. That I will never fulfill my obligation to surpass myself unless I first accept myself, and if I accept myself fully in the right way, I will already have surpassed myself.”

Thanks to Gretchen Rubin for this quote, taken from her Happiness Project blog.

  1. Brilliant! I shall absolutely take this maxim to heart and stop striving instantly. I shall copy it, if I may.

My Mackeys are Mackies, I think, both of them. One lives in Australia and the other in London; both are musicians, as I said. So, maybe no relations.

I really like the photo below in the breezeway (or is it a closet); what an interesting place to walk through

  5. And of course it's the connections to the people and places that make your photographs so wonderful, that breathes that surreal quality you manage to achieve into them.

  6. Of course you can copy it, Friko. I did :)

Your Mackies are the other Mackies indeed. We are a rare lot and sometimes I wonder if it was the result of some 'interesting' spelling interpretation.

    A pleasure, Debra.

I really enjoyed your blog Gretchen. Thanks and best wishes to you too.

It's a small passage at the top of the narrow stairs and it leads into a beautiful art studio full of light and peace, Ascender. I loved it and wanted to find a way there often :)

Thank you, Jules, thank you immensely and hugely. xx
