I left New Zealand mid-2003, bound for Istanbul and a new lif. After two years, a Belgian guy lured me into his world, deep in the heart of Europe. For a long time I was an in-process immigrant. Gert told me that ... it's a weather depression that forms on the Atlantic and then sneaks into the Channel and from there, can go anywhere ... Belgie, Frankrijk or Holland.
You know, it was one of those composed words I obviously understood, but I failed to see the meaning of.
De Standaard used it today: http://www.standaard.be/Artikel/Detail.aspx?artikelId=M51V8DL1, but according to the Van Dale listing of Dutch words (and they reference the weirdest), they basically don't know it either:
