I left New Zealand mid-2003, bound for Istanbul and a new lif. After two years, a Belgian guy lured me into his world, deep in the heart of Europe. For a long time I was an in-process immigrant. One day we married. These days it's about photography, a little red wine and wandering ... and so the journey goes.
Belgium without colours ... isn't that beautiful! For those who like everything in white, they will have to take the cold with it! Doordenkertje? See you! (very soon now) Lut
Belgium without warmth too, Lut. Beautiful but oh so cold these last few days ... thankfully I acquired Gert's abandoned leather and fleece jacket. Alles goed ;)
Bedankt Peter :) So you're thinking the snow won't be staying?
But v-grrrl, it's not snow, it's just pollutants encased in ice because it got so bad up there. The 'snow' is kind of depressing because it's not snow ... it's pollution. Sigh.
GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteThank you, it was just out there, I had to take the photo.

Lut
Perfect shot Di!
ReplyDeleteYou know, the snow quickly turned into a muddy mess over here in downtown Antwerp.
I was driving my car and managed to take a quick camera-phone shot (I know, I shouldn't be doing so while driving) before it will all inevitably melt.
What, you guys have snow? Damn, all we got is icy temperatures and stupid fog-smog. :(

Poor Manic ... fog-smog is sad :(
Update: VTM-tv (www.vtm.be) just confirmed that we're not experiencing 'virgin snow' in Belgium, but a sticky mess resulting from frozen fog fallout.
ReplyDeleteYes, these nice white flakes are in reality filthy, frozen fog particles.
I grew suspicious as there was no snow predicted, nor visible on any radar…
Living near the Antwerp harbor would have intensified the experience - and that's exactly what's happening.
Air-pollution turned into snow, this really is a first time experience.
Manic, we need to organize a protest! We didn't get any snow in my corner of Belgium either!
