Huy

Huy, originally uploaded by - di.

A charming little town at the confluence of the Meuse, Mehaigne and Hoyoux Rivers, about halway between Namur and Liege.

And it was ...

A huge thank you to Lut, who kidnapped me yesterday and spent 36 hours introducing me to some of Belgium's beautiful places.

  1. 36 hours with you, willingly? Geesh what was she thinking :P

Surely it was a wonderful day filled with talk and picture taking.

  3. I did't have the time to think Manic ... joking!
It was a splendid time and I was glad to show a part of our country you don't see every day, and I think she enjoyed it.

  4. Huy sounds like a must-see on the Belgian tourist trail, but I'm ashamed to admit I've never even heard about it... Goes to show once again how little Flemish people know about Wallonia (and vice versa). On my next trip home I'll try to squeeze in a visit!

  5. 'Think she enjoyed it' HAH, it was fantastic ... I can still imagine those perfect slices of hare and that venison and the wine. Belgian cuisine is so very very good!

As for the scenary and the history well ... yes Inge, you need to make a little time for it next time you're home and if you like, you're welcome to come visit us in Antwerpen.

I'm the same about NZ, I know the South Island like the back of my hand but the North Island is full of mysteries :)

  6. P.S. Inge ... Gert said I should spell Huy the Dutch way - Hoei and maybe you'll know it then?

  8. The light was fabulous, wasn't it Ms V. Lut has this thing going with Saint Peter regarding the weather. It's superb!

  9. Yes, the name Hoei actually does ring a bell - clever man you have ;-). Happy New Year by the way, may 2008 be the year in which you become a full-fledged, happily employed Belgian resident!
