I left New Zealand mid-2003, bound for Istanbul and a new lif. After two years, a Belgian guy lured me into his world, deep in the heart of Europe. For a long time I was an in-process immigrant. One day we married. These days it's about photography, a little red wine and wandering ... and so the journey goes.

Today I need to go home ...
Failing that, I need to stop searching 'New Zealand' on youtube.
Dag Peter, the weather is atrocious, isn't it. Mild if winter or autumn but plain mean now that we know it's summer. You take good care of yourself too.
I tried to correct your comment but couldn't ... anyway, it's only a wee mistake.
I think you would be could at dancing with the Maori too, Miss V.
Okay okay, so Belgium does have 'stuff' going for it ... lol the weather is so unbelievably bad though.
As I look at my window it's wet, cold and miserable - not a great time to be here. I hope the promise of New Zealand in the summer will do the trick, and the homesickness will abate until then. Believe me - unless you're a sucker for punishment - I'd wait :)
Well, the thing is Mark ... do I wait for a February when I have the gazillion euro required to fly home or do I love cold frosty blue sky mornings on the west coast and even out round Otago Harbour enough to risk coming home in winter.
I know the feeling Di, really... I've been feeling 'misplaced' ever since I ended up back in Antwerp.
ReplyDeleteI do hope you find comfort in having many of your loved ones around, a major advance that I do not have.
Take good care of yourself during these chilly rainswept days in July.
[correction: I obviously meant "advantage"] Maybe you can correct my comment ;-)
ReplyDeleteI think I'd be quite good at dancing with the natives. I've got the moves.
ReplyDeleteNext time I'm at Kiwi Villa, we'll have to dance.
And remember, Belgium has horizontal rain and cute cows and fantabulous bloggers!

By all means, feel free to.
ReplyDeleteBring two particular people with you though ;)
You sound more than a little homesick. Hope you can get home for a visit sometime soon - but make it summer as it's sooo cold over here just now.
ReplyDeleteHi chiefbiscuit ... it was my own fault, I went searching youtube and found all kinds of delicious stuff.
ReplyDeleteI was telling Gert that we should try for a February in New Zealand ... let's see what we can do.

ReplyDeleteAuckland ... well yes, of course it's raining ;)
